Prince Paul and Princess Jutta have been betrothed since infancy and have never met until their wedding day. But when Prince Paul fails to arrive for their nuptials Princess Jutta is left standing at the alter. She marries the Prince by proxy and then sets out for Holland where Prince Paul has escaped for a single life. She arrives in Holland incognito and dresses as the little dutch girl "Bella." She and the Prince fall in love but Princess Jutta scorns Prince Paul once she reveal herself. Princess Jutta annuls their first marriage and refuses to see Prince Paul again.  In the end the Prince and Princess do fall in love and Prince Paul and the little dutch girl are married once again.
